Inspiring the Next Generation Through Creativity, Scent & Business
Share
This week I had the absolute pleasure of visiting a local primary school to deliver some workshop experiences to Year 1, Year 4 and Year 6. At Scented Studio we’re more than just candles, it’s about confidence, creativity and connection. Being able to bring that into a school setting was something truly special.

🌈 Year 1: Smells, Feelings & Calm
We explored how different scents can make us feel.
I introduced lavender, vanilla and orange, and talked about emotions like calm, cosy and happy. They then designed their own candle inspired by the scent they chose.
🌸 Year 4: The Science of Scent
With Year 4, we went a little deeper.
We explored how smell is linked to the part of the brain that controls feelings and memories, and the children became “scent scientists,” testing different fragrances and recording how they made them feel. They then used their knowledge to design their own candle labels with purpose.
💼 Year 6: Creating a Business From Scratch
With Year 6, we stepped into the world of entrepreneurship.
The students designed their own candle businesses from start to finish. They chose a scent based on emotion, identified their target customer, named their candle and most importantly - worked out their costs and profit.
We discussed:
- Cost price
- Selling price
- Profit
- Why businesses need to solve problems
Seeing them confidently calculate profit margins and think strategically about pricing was incredible. They weren’t just designing candles - they were thinking like real business owners.

🧠 Why Workshops Like This Matter
Creativity builds confidence.
Learning how businesses work builds independence.
Scented Studio is about creating spaces where people feel calm, inspired and capable - whether that’s in a workshop, a care home, a corporate event, or a classroom.
To be invited into a school to share that message was such an honour.
🌿 Looking Ahead
If you’re a school, organisation or community group interested in bringing Scented Studio workshops to your students, we would love to hear from you.
